The best of the best ironman competitors from around the globe will converge on Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast to compete in the IRONMAN 70.3 on Sunday 8 September 2019. Come along and watch this gruelling race against one of the most stunning backdrops, at Mooloolaba Beach. It's a great spectacle for all the family.
The event kicks off just after sunrise at 6.10am, comprising a swim off the surf beach, followed by a fast bike ride and then a two-lap run as the competitors are cheered on by local and visiting spectators.
Just in case you don't know the 70.3 in the event title refers to the total distance in miles (113 km) covered during the race. Broken down this consists of:
- 1.2-mile (1.9 km) swim at Mooloolaba’s magnificent surf beach
- 56-mile (90 km) bike ride
- 13.1-mile (21.1 km) run.
If you want to set up at one of the best race vantage points then you could consider the following locations:
- Loo with a View, Mooloolaba beachfront
- Corner of Buderim Avenue and Mooloolaba Esplanade
- Alexandra Parade, Cotton Tree
- Beach Terrace.
The venue and finish line are in the heart of Mooloolaba along the scenic Mooloolaba Esplanade. You'll need to make your way to the finish line around 2pm as this is when the IRONMAN 70.3 presentations will be held.
